Keeping your boat on a mooring is a great alternative to dockage. It usually comes at a more affordable price and offers solitude and great views. However, it is imperative that your mooring equipment be constructed with the proper gear and size. One of the most important elements, and the one that is most common failure point is the pendant, or as many call it the pennant, which is actually a flag but thats an article for another day.

Its also very important to get the right sized eye splice at the mooring ball end and at the boat cleat end. We all know the frustration of not being able to easily slip the line loop over a cleat in windy conditions. Your mooring set up is critical to the well being of your vessel and yourself!

The suggested length of the pendant is 2.5 times the height of your bow from the water.

example; bow is 4 feet high - pendant size would be 10' (or greater)
